Mini sandwiches, a selection of yummy cakes AND scones, all served with a cuppa…and maybe just a couple of glasses of prosecco! All you need is some good company, your juiciest gossip – oh, and to know where’s best for afternoon tea in Ormskirk.
Ok, so right now you can’t be out and about discovering and enjoying the town centre as you would normally, but you can put the research in so you’re ready to roll as soon as lockdown restrictions lift. And what could be better than a cake and fizz fest with your friends or family to celebrate returning to some sense of normality and actually being allowed out?!

Top venues for afternoon tea in Ormskirk
O’Briens tearoom – despite being directly opposite Morrison’s and in the heart of the town centre, you could easily stroll straight past O’Briens – but you’d be missing out! This old-style tearoom offers a wide range of delicious cakes and one of the best afternoon teas in town.
The Edge – a warm welcome, and fantastic service await you at this cosy, intimate venue. With a reputation for homemade cakes to die for, their afternoon tea certainly doesn’t disappoint. The menu is constantly evolving, but typically features a fun teacup of soup to start, followed by a selection of sandwiches, scone and a choice of cake. Add to this a slate tray of crisps, olives and homemade coleslaw and it’s clear to see they have the ‘edge’ on the competition!
Bramley’s Coffee House – a delicious traditional afternoon tea with a few modern twists is on offer at this popular coffee house favoured by locals and students alike. Swap your finger sandwiches for wraps (or have both!) and freshen your palette with sweet macaroons and fresh fruit sticks. Oh and you can add in Prosecco too!
Mandrakes – for a truly magical afternoon tea, check out this Harry Potter inspired venue. An absolute must for any wizard – or cake – fans! With delicious sandwiches served alongside Mandrake’s famous pudding pots, magical cake pops and chocolate wands – that’s your sweet tooth well and truly covered!
Toby Carvery – perhaps not the first place you’d think of, but afternoon tea has recently been added to the Toby Carvery menu and looks set to impress with a great value 3-tier selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes, all served on a chrome stand and finished off with a freshly brewed pot of tea. Expect fillings such as roast British turkey with stuffing, freshly sliced cucumber (well if it’s good enough for the queen!) and roast gammon. Then finish things off with scones and a giant slice of either junkyard cake or giant sticky salted caramel cake. Yum-to-the-e!
