Making the most of your storage space at university

Student Life

Moving to university can be very daunting. Having to pack up your life into the back of one or maybe two cars if you’re lucky is no easy task. Depending on where you are staying, either on campus or off, your rooms can often leave you with little to no storage space making finding a home for everything tricky. Here is a handy guide to help you organise yourself to make the most of your university room.

Beta Room

Drawer Separators

Making the most of the drawers you have got is really important. These are fantastic for separating anything you with to put in there, from socks to gym gear. There are plenty of options out there and they are always really easy to get hold of. If you are trying to organise your stationary drawer, a cutlery organiser works perfectly!

The Back of your Door

Having effective storage means making the absolute most out of every possible storage area within your room. The back of your door is no exception. Over the door hooks can help to organise coats, jackets and even some allow the storage of shoes!

Washing Basket

Whilst you may think this is an obvious purchase, ensure that when you are buying your basket, it is taller rather than wider. This helps to maximise your living space and also keeps your clothes nice and organised.

Storage Boxes

Storage boxes are a student go-to. They are amazing at freeing up space and keeping your things in an organised fashion. With these you may need to have an organised system, to ensure that even the space available within your storage boxes is maximised and accessible.

By Alex Greenalgh

Hi! I’m Alex Greenhalgh and I am a second year at Edge Hill University studying Primary Education with QTS, and yes, I know I’m mad for going into that profession… (I’ve heard all the jokes) but I am keen to make a difference to the lives of the next generation. When I am not in University I enjoy cooking, gaming and the university students’ staple pass time, ‘spoons. My interests will be reflected with my blogs as they will have a strong focus on cooking. I understand the struggles and the endless trawls through Aldi looking for the best bargains, so I want to pass on a few insights into how cooking can be fun, inexpensive and tasty! I really do hope you enjoy reading my blogs!
