Ormskirk has plenty to offer to fill your week

Activities, Food & Drink, Local Info

Just because freshers week is over that does not mean the fun has to end.

Despite being a small town, Ormskirk has plenty to offer to fill your week. Whether it is on campus or in the town centre, there are regular events and plenty of bars.

Monday

If you are looking for high quality food at cheap prices, then the Barnyard is the place to go. With an excellent menu and deals on every day, it should be every student’s dream. From steaks to pizza, the Barnyard is well covered in selection, and when there’s 50% off food on Monday evenings, how could you resist? If you fancy a drink after, then Liquid have a great indie night on Mondays, which will provide an excellent evening.

Tuesday

At the centre of Ormskirk night life is Alpine Tuesdays. As the main club in the town, it often attracts a strong number of people. Tuesday’s in particular tend to be the go to night, and is more often than not a full venue.

Wednesday

If you’re part of a society or just want a night out, then social is where you should spend your Wednesday night. The SU Bar on campus often puts on themed events that are not to be missed.

Thursday

If you are looking for a wide selection of cocktails, you are spoiled for choice as Dinky Dory’s are on hand to kick off a night out in the correct manner. With flavours based on different types of ice lollies and the bar kitted out with swings and beach huts, who needs a day at the seaside to have a good time.

Friday

Across the road from Dinky’s is the go-to place for gin lovers. With a great selection of different types and flavours, the stylish and trendy Mimi and Gin is a great place to go for a chilled drink. Fairy lights and branches across the room adds to its unique scenery, and with food also on the menu it is a great place to go.

By Amos Wynn

Hi, I’m Amos and I’m a third year sociology and politics student at Edge Hill University. I am a big sports and music fan, and spend most of my time writing about both subjects, either reporting on a match or reviewing a gig. After uni I hope to become a qualified journalist and continue doing more of the same. When I’m not writing, I am either just relaxing or going out. Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading my blogs as much as I enjoy writing them X.
