Whilst the weathers getting a bit nicer and as we move closer to summer, it is the perfect time to grab a few friends and make the most of the warm weather. Luckily, there are plenty of things to do around Ormskirk to get out in the sun.

How about a picnic?

  • Grab yourself a picnic blanket, a few mates and head down to some of the local parks such as the beautiful Coronation Park just next to Morrisons.
  • Designate food. The heart of the picnic is the food, so divide up what you want to bring and allocate something to each person; this way it keeps the cost evenly spread and then everybody has the opportunity to contribute.

Picnic Checklist:

  • Crisp.
  • Sweets.
  • Pop; Cola, Lemonade, Fizzy Orange etc.
  • Water to cool down with.
  • Ice Creams.
  • Sandwiches.
  • Cocktail Sausages.
  • Mini Sausage Rolls.
  • Mini Pasties.
  • …Or if you’re feeling more adventurous how about something like a creamy pasta salad or sweet potato salad. Pasta and Salads are great for picnics because even if they get a little beaten up in transit, they still make for a great meal.

Beer Garden…

  • There are plenty of places to grab a drink and chill outside in the sun around Ormskirk.
  • Wetherspoons: they have a large roof terrace that gets the sun all day until about 5pm. With cheap drink prices and food served all day, it is the perfect place to chill out for the day.
  • Milo & Co: With a big sliding door at the front and seats outside on the street, it is an ideal place to get the drinks flowing on a summery afternoon.
  • The Stag and Antelope: this is a new one in Ormskirk having just recently opened but their outdoor terrace looks like the ideal sun trap to have a relaxing afternoon.
  • The Green Room: located next door to B&M it is in a very central location to meet up with friends. With outdoor seating catching the sun all day it is a great choice to relax in the sun.

Parks and Gardens…

  • There are plenty of parks around Ormskirk to relax in on a summery day.
  • Coronation Park is located just near Morrisons and has a lot of outdoor space, and usually an Ice Cream Van!
  • Victoria Park and Garden is the triangular park that most people will walk through on their journey to University. Just on the junction of Ruff Lane and Knowsley Road it is a quite and peaceful space that has been beautifully landscaped.
  • Edge Hill Campus: There are plenty of pretty places to relax in on campus; from chilling by the west campus lake to relaxing on the beach in the eastern side of the campus.
