Up-Coming Movie/TV Releases You’ll Want to Look Out For!

News

Whilst we all eagerly wait for cinemas to re-open (which they will one day, I promise) I thought we’d build a bit of excitement by listing some of the upcoming releases you won’t want to miss coming to your big screen and some upcoming TV show releases you won’t be able to resist!

1.Black Widow

Source: Marvel Studios

Originally supposed to release in May of 2020, Black Widow follows everyone’s favourite scarlet haired avenger during her post Captain America: Civil War adventures. Groomed from birth to become one hell of an assassin by a government that now wants to kill her, Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johanson reprising her role that spans just short of a decade, has to confront her past in now present-day New York where she works as a freelance secret operative. Black widow is set to hit your big screen in early May of 2021.

2.Shadow and Bone

Source: Netflix

Coming to Netflix in April 2021, Shadow and Bone is a dark TV series based on the #1 best selling Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo. The series is based on the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the spin-off duology Six of Crows. The series will house a diverse cast lead by Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov in a world cleaved by a barrier of darkness only she has the power to destroy, but her power draws the prying eyes of those perhaps it is best to avoid the attention of. The series will also feature ‘The Crows’, a gang of thieves led by Kaz Brekker, played by Freddy Carter.

3.A Quiet Place 2

Another movie delayed for a 2021 release, a Quiet Place 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to 2018’s a Quiet Place, set in a world invaded and ransacked by a terrifying alien race – where any sound you make is as good as a death sentence. Starring Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe making up the surviving members of the Abbot family, they quickly learn that there is more evil in the world than the aliens that hunt them.

4.Stranger Things Season 4

Source: Netflix

The much-beloved Stranger Things is set for another season with a release date yet to be confirmed. (SPOILER WARNING) Season 3 ended on a rather sour note to put things lightly with (SERIOUSLY LAST WARNING) Hopper’s apparent death, though one look at the teaser trailer for season 4 has eased fan’s concerns about Hopper’s fate, and only presented us more questions and we are all so very desperate for answers. Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, Milly Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin along with the rest of the cast of seasons 1-3 reprising their respective roles. Finn Wolfhard, in an interview with CBC, listen described the season as the “darkest season yet.”

5.Raya and the Last Dragon

Source: Disney

The next in Disney’s arsenal of animated movies comes Raya and the Last Dragon. In the Fantasy world of Kumandra dragons and humans lived together in peace until they sacrificed themselves to save humanity from the threat of a dark and evil people simply known as ‘The Druun’ Now that they have returned, it’s down to a lone warrior to find the last dragon and save her home. Raya and the Last Dragon features Kelly Marie Tran as Raya, the lone warrior in question, and Awkwafina as Sisu, the dragon she so desperately needs to find. Raya and the Last Dragon is set for a March 2021 release.

So, with that, we hope this has created a slight buzz for cinemas to re-open and given you some nice recommendations for a movie night. Make sure to buy all the popcorn you need, dim the lights, and countdown the days until we can all go to the cinema together!
