Where you can go in Ormskirk currently (12th April onwards)

Local Info

ormskirk-centre

We have FINALLY made it to step 1 of normality! Woo! And although most of you have probably already been out by now (me included) I thought I would focus my blog today on where has reopened for outdoor food and drinks, specifically in Ormskirk.

1. Trusty Wetherspoons

Now every student LOVES spoons, don’t they? 2 for £12 pitchers, pint and a burger for like £6?? Cannot go wrong. So, we were all glad to hear that Wetherspoons was reopening on the 12th of April ‘come rain or shine’! although I probably would not go in the rain personally… however their outdoor seating on the balcony is lovely especially when the sun is shining, and the app works the same as before so no trying to get the attention of the bar staff like in other places!

My advice:

QUEUES!! The queue for spoons can get SO long and they work on a 1 in 1 out basis so you could be there for a while, so get there in good time! Queues start to get longer after 5pm!
JACKETS!! You will definitely (for the time being) need a jacket, so do not make that mistake, it may seem warm but when you are sat outside for a long period of time you will feel the cold and 13 degrees is good for England but isn’t actually that warm…

2. No.9 Bar and Old Post Office

I thought id put these two together as they are next door to each other and operating in a similar way. They are both based on Aughton street and have plenty of outdoor seating. No bookings are required and just walk in, first come first serve. The Old Post Office (TOPO) are serving a limited menu of food, No.9 bar do not serve food. TOPO use an app on which you order your food and drinks, and No.9 Bar is table service, and they have plenty of staff on to take your orders.

My advice:

There is not much advice for these two bars! Apart from jackets again! and maybe be aware you could wait a little while for your drinks but nothing too extreme. I also highly recommend No.9 Bars Pornstar Martinis, wow!!

3. The Green Room

The Green room are based on Moor Street right next to B&M and amazingly have outdoor heaters!! For those people who are always cold like me, you will appreciate that more than anyone ha-ha! They don’t have as much seating as the other bars but still a good few tables available. Again, it is walk-ins only, but it does get very busy, we queued for one hour on Saturday! Open from 2pm- until midnight or until it gets too cold.

My advice:

It is a lovely place to drink if you are prepared to wait for a table, I definitely think it is worth it, especially with the heaters. However, we did wait a while for drinks, but this was not a problem as all bars are trying their best and have only just reopened and the service here was amazing!

4. Alpine

Alpine only reopened over the weekend and I have not yet myself been so cannot comment too much on here. From their Instagram it seems they are open 4pm till 11pm every day, they are taking bookings and are already fully booked all week! They take bookings a week in advance every Friday, but it seems they are going to fill up very fast! They suggest getting their early if you want to walk-in, but a table is not guaranteed. £3 entry on the door and its 2 for 1 before 7pm, 4 vodka blues anyone?

That is it for my in depth descriptions, however there are plenty more bars and restaurants open in and around Ormskirk, including:

  • The Sandpiper
  • The Horseshoe
  • Mylo & Co
  • Love to eat
  • The Cricketers
  • The Fat Italian

I hope this blog helped you if you were unsure where you could go/needed to book! Go out and have a good time, but remember to stay safe and be kind to the hospitality staff as they’re busier than ever and are doing their best!
